I happen to be a big fan of carrots. I love carrot juice, I love carrots on my salad and I love to dunk baby carrots in hummus – YUM! I happen to also like carrots on my face and all over my body. What am I talkin’ about? There’s a pretty accessible and affordable line of skin care that’s getting a lot of media attention called Yes to Carrots. Their products can be found at stores like Target, Walgreens and amazon.com Their line of skin care is paraben free and is packed full of organic fruits and veggies. Although Yes to Carrots uses lots of organic ingredients, I do have to point out that they use Imidazolidinyl Urea (a preservative, in this case, not animal derived) and “fragrance.” Believe me, it could be way worse but I wish they would find alternatives. In the spectrum of vegan skin care, there are the über basic, pure, beauty lines, the moderate “green” kind and the straight up vegan but toxic kind. I’d have to say Yes to Carrots falls somewhere in the middle (closer to the basic, purer side). Their products are awesome but they could totally kick it up a notch and be even greener and safer by maybe sacrificing a little bit of shelf life. I’m hoping this post along with its comments and feedback will help Yes to Carrots and other companies see the demand for 100% preservative free skin care. The reason I’m reviewing Y to C is because they are on the right path and their products are cruelty-free. Aside from a couple ingredients, they are mostly organic and their products work effectively.

Products that I’ve been using:

Deliciously Rich Body Butter (~$13)

If you’re suffering from dry skin, you need to start rockin’ some seriously hydrating lotion. This beta carotene rich formula is blended with organic carrot juice, organic pumpkin, organic sweet potato, shea butter and Dead Sea mud. This body butter absorbs quickly and leaves your skin feeling soft. I always use body butter on my legs after a bath and I’ve been using this particular body butter for about a week now and it seems to be doing the trick.

Yes to Carrots body butter ~$13

Exfoliating and Soothing Mud Mask (~$15)

This vitamin-rich mask with avocado, carrot and Dead Sea mud works well on dry to sensitive skin. It’s super simple to use and you only need to leave it on your face for 5 minutes. If you put this on and then floss and brush your teeth, it’ll be dry by the time you’re done scrubbing your toothsies. I’m a huge fan of mud masks. I’ve yet to try a mask I didn’t like and this is no exception.

Yes to Carrots Exfoliating and Soothing Mud Mask, ~$15

Yes to Carrots is vegetarian (mostly vegan) and 100% cruelty-free. I borrowed this from their FAQ section:

Are your products for vegetarians?

Yes. Our products do not contain any animal products, other than honey & beeswax which are found in select products.

Do you test your products on animals?

No! We never have and never will test on animals. Instead, we have an eager group of consumers willing to test our latest concoctions to make sure our products are safe and effective for you.

You know when you’re feeling sluggish, how a healthy bowl of fruit or salad can give you that boost that your body’s been craving? Well, our skin craves all of those nutritious goodies as well. Yes To Carrots is an amazing line of food-based skincare that is vegan, cruelty-free, paraben free, organic, and affordable. That’s right, I said affordable. You can find these products at your local drugstore.

*Sunny’s picks:

Yes To Carrots – This line is great for people with normal to dry skin. These products are packed with the antioxidant power of beta-carotene.
*Feel the C Pampering Hand and Nail Spa: This is by far, one of the best hand scrubs I have ever tried. It’s made with dead sea salt, carrot juice, carrot seed oil, fig, pomegranate, sweet potato, pumpkin juice… hungry yet? This scrub will make your hands feel soooooo incredibly smooth. And if you’re like me, you will be obsessively caressing your hands all day long. Follow this up with Yes To Carrots Hand & Elbow Moisturizing Cream and you’re golden.

Yes To Carrots has a line of skincare for those with oily to combination skin called Yes To Tomatoes.
*Totally Tranquil Facial Hydrating Lotion: This Facial Lotion makes my face feel fresh and soft. I have the notorious T Zone oil action goin’ on so after washing my face, I always make sure my facial moisturizer isn’t oily or heavy. When I use this lotion on my face (after washing and toning), my skin feels nourished but not weighed down. This lotion contains 26 Minerals from the Dead Sea, tomatoes, rosemary, red pepper (the last two ingredients are powerful anti-oxidants), and a slew of other yummy ingredients.

Yes To Cucumbers is another line of products by Yes To Carrots. These work best for those with normal to sensitive skin.
*Eye Love Cucumber Soothing Eye Gel: I love this eye gel! Love it!!! There’s no more need to slice cucumbers in the name of beauty. Who has time for that anyway? I prefer using this awesome cucumber eye gel which not only contains cucumber but is also made with spirulina (*personal note* I named one of my kitty cats Spirulina), green tea, chamomile, dead sea minerals, spinach, dill, and broccoli. That’s a lot of green goodness! I’m a huge fan of food ingredients in my skincare. Nutrition for your skin can only come from the most wholesome gifts from the earth. This eye gel soothes and tightens the delicate skin under your eyes, helps reduce puffiness and dark circles. This gel is incredibly refreshing, light and cool.

All of these lines are available at Walgreens, Target, Safeway, and amazon.com. For a complete list of stores, visit the Yes To Carrots website.
