I was watching Extreme Couponing on TV the other night, and I saw some lady stock up on like 80 kazillian bunzillion bars of name brand soap and icky, icky, cheap, synthetic-y, conventional lotions. I couldn’t believe she was committing to a lifetime of gunky, toxic “beauty” products in such massive quantities. It was gross. Seriously, I wanted to gag myself with a dull, rusty, crusty spoon.

To quell my heart palpitations, I took a break to pamper myself with some wholesome, natural, vegan & cruelty-free beauty goodies. My arsenal of beauty products is a little out of control, and for this reason, I like to switch up my products often (sometimes weekly).

Over the past couple weeks I have been seriously digging this company called Because. I love the name, love their quality goods, and love the way the make me feel (luxuriously awesome). My faves:

Moisture-Retaining Hand and Body Scrub ($36): Even though I know I need to cut down my sugar intake (apparently, having 5 cupcakes for breakfast is not normal), I will never shun a good sugar scrub—evah! I’m an exfoliatin’ diva; I rock hand scrubs almost every other day, and I attribute a nice chunk of my serene happiness to this simple pamperin’ pleasure. I must say, of all the hand scrubs I’ve ever tried, this one is definitely the creamiest. It also smells soooo pretty; it has a sweet, subtle fruity scent that reminds me of something from my childhood (but I can’t put my finger on it). It contains raw cane sugar and berry seed oils rich in essential Omega fatty acids—perfect for healing dry, flaky dragon skin.

This dopeness gets even better when you couple it with Because’s Multi-Tasking Hand and Body Lotion ($44)—shazaaam, you’ve got baby booty soft skin! It’s packed with essential nutrients, skin plumping oils and powerful free radical resistance fighters. It’s hydrating, light, and has a subtle floral scent that’s pleasing and calming.

I will say that these products may be a lil’ steep for the average compassionate beauty junkie, but hey, if you’re gonna splurge—do it right!

It’s time to exfoliate! Who doesn’t want über soft, smooth, yummy skin? *lookin’ around, crickets chirping* Exactly!

You can buy body scrubs at some stores for $20-30 a jar, or you can make your own vegan, cruelty-free body scrub for a fraction of the cost, using ingredients you already have in your kitchen. Enjoy!

I love finding any excuse to treat myself to a nice facial, body scrub or massage. March happens to be Women’s History Month and I think we ladies ought to celebrate with some decadent self pampering. They have tasty smelling sugar scrubs, whipped body lotions, shower cream soaps and bath melts, all made with natural and organic ingredients. Most of their products are vegan but double check before ordering because some of Orgo’s beauty products contain milk and honey.

Although I haven’t personally tried the Banana Scrub, I did get to try Orgo’s strawberry scrub and it was not only scrumptious-smelling (like fresh strawberry preserves) but my hand’s felt smoother immediately after doing a little scrub down.

I also got to try the Pineapple Frosting Body Whip which also smelled incredibly yummy (like upside down pineapple cake). My hubby kept commenting about how delicious I smelled after I applied it to my skin. What I like most about this body whip is that it’s really thick. I like using this product after a hot bath on my freshly shaved legs… makes my legs really happy.

I personally like to use body scrubs on my hands. I love pampering myself with hand scrubs followed by an emollient hand cream.
