My Latest LUSH Obsession

Even though I’m a lip balm fiend and have my smackers lubed up 24-7, I go through periods of having dry, crusty lips (sexy, no?). Usually during these times, I just pile on the lip balm and layer it on thick, but I’ve discovered a much better solution: Lip scrubs.

I recently tried LUSH’s Mint Julips Lip Scrub ($8.95) and I am such a fan, you have no idea! First of all, the peppermint and vanilla oils (2 of my all time favorite scents) make this scrub smell like Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies. It’s a sugar scrub, too, so that temptation to just eat the content of the lil’ jar is definitely present. This scrub is so easy to use! You just rub a small amount on your lips and rinse it off. Your lips will feel so incredibly smooth, fresh and tingly after scrubbin’ away all those dead skin cells and dry, scraggly bits. I like to finish it off with some tasty-smelling, vegan lip balm (like Crazy Rumors or Hurraw). LUSH has vegan lip balms, too, but I haven’t gotten around to trying them yet (on my to do list).

Mint Julips Lip Scrub, $8.95

Ingredients: Castor sugar, organic jojoba oil, vanilla extract, tagetes oil, peppermint oil, limonene, flavor.

LUSH has some egg-celent Easter goodies for those of you who might want to skip the chocolate this year and indulge in some calorie-free bathtime fun instead. Although not all of LUSH’s bath goodies are vegan, a lot of them are, so look for the designated “V” next to all of their vegan items. Also, in case you didn’t already know, LUSH’s Bath Bombs and Bubble Bars are preservative-free and have no egg-cess packaging.

These Hippy Chick Bath Bombs ($4.95 each) are grapefruit-scented (yum) and they are beyond adorbs! Not only do they smell refreshing and tasty, but they are sure to make all you chickadees look forward to your next relaxing bath. If you’re lovin’ the scent of this bath bomb, you might want to pair it with their similarly fragranced Happy Hippy Shower Gel.

Also, LUSH will be having an Easter Event at every shop nationwide all day Saturday (April 3rd) where you can finish up all of your last minute basket filling. If you spend $40 or more, you’ll receive an Easter product for free!

Green your beauty routine for St. Patty’s Day!

Hey everybody, tomorrow’s St. Patty’s Day! Don’t want to get pinched on the arse by a mischievous leprechaun? Well, then you know you better rock some green attire. I’d like to invite you all to take it a step further this year and greenify your beauty regimen as well! LUSH has eco-friendly and St Patty’s inspired products that will keep you pinch-free and smelling beautiful!

Avobath Bomb ($5.80): This is one of LUSH’s best sellers. It not only turns your bath water green and smells amazing, but it also nourishes your skin. What’s in an Avobath Bomb? It’s packed with essential oils of lemongrass and bergamot, freshly squished avocados (for reals) and scoops of olive oil that leave you skin soft and smooth. Bath bombs are so much fun! I love watching them get all fizzy and dissolve. Next time you treat yourself to a pampering, relaxing bath time session, make sure you’ve got your Avobath! Also, these bath bombs make great gifts! A good friend of mine gave me a Sex Bomb and bubble bar for my birthday many years ago (which is how I first discovered LUSH) and I immediately became a die hard fan. Squeaky Green Shampoo Bar ($7.95): This type of shampoo is as eco-friendly as it gets! One little green bar lasts between 60 – 80 washes, contains no preservatives or packaging and it’s full of wonderful essential oils for the hair and scalp. It contains rosemary, nettle and peppermint which stimulate the scalp, and rose and vanilla which make this shampoo bar smell divine. What I like most about this product is that it’s so totable. You can throw it in your gym bag or pack it in your carry-on luggage (keep in mind, airport security will throw and liquids over 3 ounces in the garbage).

Too Drunk Emotibomb ($3.95): If you’re expecting to have a few drinky drinks on St. Patty’s Day (which I’m assuming you probably are), you might want to stock up on some of these Too Drunk Emotibombs for you and your friends. These helpful lil’ bath bombs contain stimulating fennel and peppermint oils which will definitely help liven your senses and help sober you up. Since St. Patty’s Day is in the middle of the week, this could be the perfect boost to help get you out the door and on your way to work. They smell absolutely fantastic, just like candy (and of course they would with ingredients like sweet orange oil, caramelized sugar syrup and chocolate bean). Yum!

Enter LUSH’s Mother’s Day contest!

LUSH is having a lovely contest honoring mothers for Mother’s Day (which is right around the corner), and I wanted to share all the details with you all. They are offering one lucky customer at each LUSH shop a chance to have a letter to their mother displayed as their window art for Mother’s Day.

It’s simple to enter. From now until March 25^th, visit any local LUSH shop to pick up the entry form, write all the reasons why you appreciate your mother in the allotted space and include contact information so they can reach you if you win. Each store will choose the most heartfelt letter to go into the window and the writer of each winning letter will also receive the LUSH “Mum” hatbox gift ($59.95) to give to their awesome momma.

Love Soap ($3.95): This radiantly red, heart shaped, glittery soap smells just like LUSH’s best-selling Sex Bomb (jasmine, clary sage and ylang ylang), which we love! These sensual smells will definitely have love lingering in the air. This love soap looks like a giant gumi candy that I want to eat (don’t eat it!). The people at LUSH are masters at making their goodies look fun and scrumptious. I give them mad props for making bath time fun.

The Ex Factor Bath Bomb ($4.95): If you’re currently getting over a broken heart and need a form of catharsis, LUSH has you covered with this fun bath buddy. This lil’ blue ginger cookie-lookin’ man with his lil’ pink heart will slowly dissolve and eventually wash down the drain, allowing you to officially move and say goodbye to that scumbag. If you’re feeling really passionate, go ahead and rip off some off his limbs before or after he hits the water. Have fun with it! If you’ve never tried a bath bomb before, you are in for a treat. They are F-U-N! They slowly fizzle away, and this particular one will turn you bath water a beautiful deep blue shade and it’ll smell like Butterball (vanilla, ylang ylang).

Magic Mushroom Bubble Bar ($4.95): This adorable pink and white mushroom smells like strawberries and vanilla cream. This is exactly what I want to smell like 24/7; it’s the quintessential yummy-lovey V-Day scent. And after a nice sensual bubble bath with this magic mushroom, you will smell like strawberries and cream. These bubble bars are a lot of fun! This first time I walked into a Lush Store, I thought I died and went to heaven. That was 12 years ago while on vacation in Banff, Canada. Although not yet a vegan, I was still smart enough to recognize something good when I found it.

Over the years I’ve coveted several of their product lines. The one product that I’ve come to rely on is Sympathy for the Skin Lotion ($22.35). It is a staple in our house. Everyone from my partner Matt to the kids use this to help our skin stay soft. It is the only lotion Matt has ever used that heals his face beneath his beard.

Their shampoo Big ($21.35) is also beyond great. The salt scrubs away the dead skin, and when you are done your head and hair feel great.

Not only are their environmental practices outstanding, their products are better than any chain store bought product we have ever used.

LUSH Handmade Cosmetics is such an amazing company which caters to the girliness in all of us that begs to be ravished by arousal overdose. Every single LUSH product, many of which contain mood enhancing essential oils, is unbelievably yummy-smelling to the point where you either want to eat it or call in sick from work so you can spend the whole day sniffin’ your LUSHified skin. Not only are their shampoos, soaps and fizzy bath bombs delectably smelly but they are quite the eye candy. Many of their soaps, bubble bars and bath bombs have glitter, rice rose petals, berries, fruit peels, you name it!

Not only is LUSH lushishly lushful but the company has charitable good will. For instance, they have a “Charity Pot” Hand & Body Cream in which every penny of it’s retail price ($19.95) goes to a charitable fund to support the environment, human and animals rights. This cream smells out-of-this world amazing (ylang ylang, tagettes, gardenia) and it’s so rich and creamy.

Have to say a few words about my personal fave: the Sex Bomb ($5.85). It’s one of their top sellers (shocker… not!) and here’s why: the blissful smell of jasmine, clary sage, and ylang ylang… go on and get your sexy on! When the sex bomb dissolves you’ll have a bath tub full of rice paper rose petals. Que romantico!

Another bath bomb that will rock your world is their Avobath Bomb ($5.65). That’s avo as is avocado. Two wonderful reasons why I love it: it’s moisturizing and it smells refreshing… and it’s green (for us green goddesses who love our planet).

Other Lush products I recommend:

Big Shampoo ($20.95) – Contains sea salt to counteract the effects of soft water which will lead to volumous, big hair

Veganese Conditioner ($8.45) – Lemon scented, heavy on shine, for all hair types.

Wiccy Magic Muscle Massage Bar ($8.95) – Layered with aduki beans (go on, say out loud), it smells spicy and yum yum and it’s a trippy lookin’ bar. I just feel cool using one. It has tingly powers and it’s awesome.
