Stylin’ in My Neuaura Vegan Shoes

Long past are the days of crunchy granola hippie vegan shoes (i.e. shoes made of hemp, rope, recycled tires, and/or khaki-colored fabrics). ;) Don’t get me wrong, I have no prob whatsoever with earthy-lookin’ shoes (I totes own a few pairs), but there used to be a time when those were our only options—♫For the times, they are a-changin’♫! We vegans are now blessed with all sorts of GORGEOUS cruelty-free footsie wear.

Now I wanna introduce y’all to Neuaura eco-conscious and animal-free shoes! They are über hip, and I’ve been OBSEESED with my Neuaura Hazel -Red boots (the ones in the pics). Aren’t they delicious? I’d marry them if I weren’t already taken—that’s how much I love them. The are hella cute, cozy, warm, and they are RED! I’ve been on the quest for the perfect red vegan boots my whole life!

Deets on this pair: They are lace-up wedge booties made with sheen coated PU, goretex upper, rubber sole, and a faux wool cuff collar—and they are RED!! ←Have I mentioned that already? ♥ ♥ ♥

Next time you’re lookin’ for a pair of kick-ass vegan shoes, check out Nauaura for cruelty-free boots, heels, wedges, and slip-ons!

What’s In My Vegan Purse?

I give you permission to snoop sneak a peek at all the wonderful cruelty-free goodies I can’t leave the house without. I’ve excluded all of my baby items (dipes, wipes, and booty creams) since I’ve already written quite a few posts about my fave babe must-haves.

The Goods:

Susan Nichole Purse – Let’s start with this kick-ass handbag! It’s a boho beauty, and it fits all of my shit! Every single bag in the Susan Nichole line is 100% vegan and 100% stylish! There’s nothing crunchy about this fashion statement!

Shea Moisture – The beautiful-smelling baby (and mama) ointment is what I like to use as an all-over moisturizer. It’s mega pure (with raw shea, chamomile, and argan oil), it smells amazing (with frankincense and myrrh extracts), and it’s totally versatile—can be used on chapped lips, cheeks, hands, arms, baby’s bottom, etc. Btw, you can find this moisturizer at your local Walgreens, CVS, or Target. Woot!

Margot Sun Fetch Sunglasses - I loooooooooove Fetch sunglasses—they are my absolute fave (and this red pair is extra HOT)! I’ll have a more comprehensive review coming soon. In short, their quirky styles are indie/retro, super high quality, and 100% of the company’s profits go to the Pixie Project in support of animal rescue and adoption. It doesn’t get radder than that!

Bambu Spork & Cork - Since I’m a quasi-germaphobe, I like to be prepared just in case someone were to offer me a piece of their vegan cupcake while I’m out and about, for example.

Glittery note pad & Ganesha pen – This is for my doodling. I’m a professional (LinkedIn, betch!).

LadyCup – This menstrual cup (poshly tucked away in a red polka dotted pouch) is one that I’ve yet to try (waiting for my dear Aunt Flo to visit so I can properly review it). I keep it handy just in case she (aka Flosenstein) pops up unexpectedly. I got inspired to try one of these bad boys (er, bad girls) after reading my homegirl, Christy’s, Diva Cup review. My cooch and I are excited to try! Will keep y’all posted! ;)

ipad Mini – Dude. I’ve always wanted to fit my enitre laptop in my purse, and now I can (sort of)!

Crazy Rumors Lip Balm (Orange Bergamot) – I’m a lip balm addict, and this citrus-y one is my current fave. I have just about one of every Crazy Rumors flavor sprinkled throughout the house and in my car.

Pacifica Solid Perfume (Brazilian Mango Grapefruit) – It’s always summer with the fruity blend of peach, apricot, mango, grapefruit, and pineapple—one of my favoritest scents EVAH. It smells crazy yummy, and it uplifts my mood in a pinch. It’s perfect for toting around in my purse—it’s tiny, and I know it won’t spill.

EO Peppermint Hand Sanitizer – It’s THE best hand sanitizer! It doesn’t contain alcohol so it’s not drying like most antibac sprays, and it smells delish!

Shikai Borage Therapy Lotion – It’s the perfect size, it’s emollient, vegan, and unscented (safe for babeh).

Vera Bradley Wallet – This fits everything—my IDs and CCs, my phone, Multnomah Falls pressed penny souvenir, change, and all my dolla dolla bills, yo (all two of them)! :P

What’s in your purse?

DIY Tricks To Combat Puffy Eyes

Puffy eyes – they are a common side effect of lack of sleep, sensitivity to cosmetics, too much salt, an allergy flare up, or just a good ol’ fashioned (and sometimes much needed) cry session. And regardless of why you get them, they can be unsightly and take away from our natural beauty. Fortunately, for us sufferers, there are 3 simple ways to help un-puff those puffy eyes without even having to leave the house. Eager to de-puff? Read on.

Chill Out

One sure-fire way to ease the swelling around your eyes and get back to your hot self is to cool things down. Literally.

Ice helps to shrink the blood vessels around your eye area which can become engorged and ultimately cause your under-eye area to swell. All you have to do is simply grab an ice cube, wrap it in a thin (and clean) facecloth, run it under water for a few seconds (to get the ice to melt slightly), and then apply it directly to your eye area. Try to hold the ice over each eye for as long as you can stand it – ideally about a minute each eye. Once it becomes too cold to stand, move over to the other eye or hold it on your eyelid to calm down any swelling you might be experiencing there as well.

An Essential Remedy

If suffering through chilly treatments isn’t really your thing, maybe a natural essential oil would be more suitable. The other day I came across an effective remedy that not only helps to shrink inflamed blood vessels but smells great and works out to be pennies per treatment!

The process is simple:

  • combine 2 drops of rosemary essential oil with 1 teaspoon of olive oil (to dilute the solution)
  • mix the two oils until well combined
  • using your index finger, rub the oil mixture onto your eye area
  • let the oils sit on your skin for a few minutes or until you notice the puffiness starting to subside
  • wipe away the residual oil

Make sure you avoid getting the oils into your actual eyes as this could cause serious irritation and should be flushed away with water if it occurs. Once completed this treatment should act as an anti-inflammatory agent and cause the blood vessels around your eye area to constrict while also allowing your eyes to look more open and alert. And not only is it a cheap and easy fix, but it is gentle on your skin and full of natural ceffeic acid which should help to further de-puff the puff throughout your day. Bonus!

Un-Puffing So Easy You Won’t Be-Leaf It

Once I break down this simple remedy, your mind will be blown with just how clever that title is, if I do say so myself! If the puffy bags under your eyes are masking your natural beauty, head on into your kitchen and grab yourself two tea bags. Pretty much any tea should work, as long as it’s caffeinated. I personally prefer either green tea or white tea as I find they don’t really stain your skin as much as darker teas do.

Once you have your tea bags, the process is easy:

  • dampen your tea bags under a light stream of cold water for a few minutes
  • squeeze out the excess water
  • place the wet tea bags in your freezer for about 5 minutes or until they are cold to the touch
  • after your time is up, take the tea bags out of the freezer, lie down, and place them onto your eyes
  • let them sit there for about 20 minutes
  • once your 20 minutes is up, take the tea bags off and rinse your face with cool water

You should notice the swelling subsiding after one quick treatment but if you are still experiencing some puffiness then try this de-puffing powerhouse remedy:

  • grab yourself 4 or 5 tea bags (again green tea or white tea)
  • allow them to steep in hot water for up to 20 minutes until you have a strong cup of tea
  • let the tea cool down
  • pour your strong tea into ice cube trays and place in your freezer
  • once completely frozen, pop out an ice cube, wrap in a thin facecloth and place over your eye
  • similar to the first remedy, leave the ice on your eye for as long as you can stand
  • rotate eyes until your ice cube is melted

This treatment is oh-so-awesome because not only do you get the effects of the caffeine but you also get the cooling and constricting action of the ice.

Et voila! Three quick and easy ways to ease and erase those puffy bags under your eyes, without even having to leave the house! But what about you? Do you have any simple solutions for getting rid of the puffiness under your eyes? Leave them in the comment section below!

ReNew Botanicals Works Miracles!

As you may know by now, I’m obsessed with vegan skin care, and I have another product to add to my list of faves! I keep my skin clear by washing with Just Neem and apply tea tree oil when I have breakouts… but there is one thing my skincare regimen was missing—exfoliation!! Especially in these cold winter months to come, exfoliation is super important to get rid of crusty ol’ dry skin cells to reveal healthy, glowing skin!

ReNew Botanicals sent me their wonderful Renewal Exfoliant cream and this stuff works miracles! This is an organic company that doesn’t use any parabens, sulfates, propoplene glycol, GMOs, petrochemicals, or artificial fragrances or colors!

Okay, I’m about to get real gross for a second. Soooo, my boo thang was showing me how to extract white and blackheads… I’ve never done it before and I. HAVE. A TON. GROSSSSSS. Afterwards, I felt supah nasty and felt like the dirt from my hands was probably seeping into my open, fragile pores. So, I reached for my exfoliation cream and rubbed it onto my skin with water. I seriously couldn’t believe how soft my skin was after. It felt like I just had a microdermabrasion treatment—fah real! Even my boo commented on how soft my face was! This shit is now a necessity in my skincare routine.

What does your skincare routine look like?

Mineral Fusion’s Vegan Skin Care Products

I’ve been a pretty gigantor fan of Mineral Fusion, especially their nail polishes (←review to come!) ever since they caught my eye at Whole Foods—I lubs them like a kitteh loves a warm lap (and that’s no joke!)… I am however, new to their skin care products. Ive been giving them a go these past few weeks and am lovin’ everything I’ve tried so far—especially since all of their goodies are effective and free of gluten, parabens, talc, artificial colors, synthetic fragrances, SLS, and phthalates. *Note – not all of their products are vegan, but a lot of them are, so be sure to read product ingredients online.

My faves:

Mattifying Oil Control Facial Moisturizer ($18.99): This light, non-greasy formula is too legit to quit (←had to – I ♥ Hammer). What I love most about this moisturizer is that it provides the perfect base for my makeup—it reaslly does absorb excess oil and leave a matte finish. I can’t stand it when my face is like a slip ‘n slide after moisturizing… makes puttin’ on makeup a real biatch, na mean? This genius face product totally fixes that problem. I’ve never even heard of a mattifying moisturizer before this one, so I’m beyond stoked.

Skin-Soothing Facial Toner ($10.99): This natural, alcohol-free (←important!) toner contains minerals like magnesium, copper and zinc, which stimulate skin cells and provide mega antioxidants to help fight signs of aging. The licorice root, cucumber, lavender, rosemary, and green tea ingredients help soothe and calm sensitive skin, all while making this a pretty-smellin’ spritzy sitch. This toner is hydrating and refreshing – definitely gets two thumbs up!

Eye Makeup Remover: So, I’ve been having a wee bit of a hard time finding the perfect makeup remover lately. I can’t get into the oily ones (even though they’re effective), and I’m not totally sold on the creamy kind either (if you have a fave, please share!). This one, however, is pretty much the shit! It’s sort of like a gel, and it’s gentle, soothing, non-greasy, and safe to use around the eyes. It’s TSA-friendly to boot! I’m eager to try out more Mineral Fusion products in the future!

Have you tried Mineral Fusion yet? What are some of your faves?

New Shades from Soulstice Spa!

I have a confession to make: MY NAILS LOOK LIKE SHIT, all the time. I know, I know—I’m a fraud. Here I am writing reviews and giving my opinions on all the latest and greatest vegan beauty products, yet I’m typing with fingers that are homes to the most atrocious looking nails you’ve ever seen!

Okay, they’re not that bad. They just don’t get a lot of lovin’. Its nothing but black nail polish all day err’day for this girl. And I don’t even remove old polish before painting again—I just paint right over the old stuff! I know, beauty blasphemy.

For those of you that like to keep your nails all fresh to death and shizz, I had my homegirl try out the latest shades from Soulstice Spa, and she reported back to me with pictures and thoughts.

Soulstice Spa shades: Napa (red), Cassis (dark plum), and Nevis (green)

She tried a few different shades out said that the colors went on smoothly, held up for a good week, didn’t chip, and said that it was easy to wipe off of her skin if she accidentally went off of the nail (psssh, I do this every time I paint my nails—always the worst paint job EVAH).

She also liked that she could apply multiple coats easily without a messy buildup look that she usually gets when she applies multiple coats for a more vibrant color.

All of Soulstice Spa’s products are vegan and cruelty-free. They also donate a portion of the all proceeds to social and environmental non-profit organizations that are working to make beautiful changes in the world.

You can have awesome nails AND do good deeds and stuff, WIN!
