Infusing Oils with LEVO for DIY Beauty Products

August 1, 2019By 0 Comments

If y’all have never infused oils before, it’s time to level up yo’ cookin’ and DIY beauty game! There’s the old school way of infusing oils where you place your oil and herbs in a jar and place them in a windowsill for 2-3 weeks (shaking daily) before straining. There’s another method where you place oil and herbs in a double boiler over low heat for 5-8 hours for before straining as well… but c’mon on, ain’t nobody got time fo’ that! That’s where cool tech comes into play, in particular, LEVO.

LEVO allows you to infuse your oils in a fraction of the time with precision, sans the messy cleanup. Food wise, you can make fancy herbed olive oil, canna budder, you can even infuse maple syrup. On the beauty front, you can take your favorite carrier oils and infuse them with flowers, tea, coffee, herbs, you name it!

I went on KATU’s “Afternoon Live” earlier this week to demonstrate one of my favorite, simple beauty recipes, DIY Anti-Aging Eye Balm, made with sweet almond oil (works for all skin types) infused with chamomile and coffee – soothes, tightens, tones, depuffs, and is loaded with antioxidants. Peep the clip below for the full recipe!

In a double boiler, combine infused oil with 1 tsp. of candelilla wax and stir until melted. Immediately pour into a small tin or lip balm tube, and let completely cool before using.
