Earthwise Beauty

Earthwise Beauty recently got a delicious makeover (not that they needed one, but change is always good), and I got to try out some new goodies, so a blog post was in order!

If you’re new to Earthwise Beauty (EWB), the entire line is vegan, cruelty-free, handcrafted in small batches, and made with unrefined, unprocessed, fair-trade, and sustainably sourced ingredients (e.g. unrefined botanical oils and butters, traditionally prepared herbs, and therapeutic-grade essential oils and absolutes). And might I add, Ava (Earthwise Beauty HBIC & botanical wizard) has a knack for seeking out the most unique, high quality, potent, and esoteric ingredients, most of which I’ve never even heard of. You’ll see what I mean as you read on. OK, let’s dive in!

Earthwise Beauty Baes

Earthwise Beauty Resiliency Face Serum

Resiliency Face Serum, $54 – This is EWB’s former “Carrot-a-Day Face Serum” (carrot seed essential oil is the main rockstar ingredient) which I have been a longtime fan of. It’s a super light, quick absorbing, refreshing aloe-based gel that packs a serious anti-aging punch. Now that I’m in my late 30s (GAH!!), I’ve noticed I’m dealing more with brown spots and hyperpigmentation, and this stuff is holy grail status. Not even kidding. It’s gentle yet very potent. I use this day and night, even under makeup, and I let it completely dry/absorb before applying anything else. After only uing it for a week, I could tell my skin was looking brighter and more even. In addition to helping banish brown spots, it also helps reduce fine lines, puffiness (especially under eyes), and acne. This serum is suitable for all skin types, especially mature or aging.

Pro tip: Refrigerate to extend shelf life and to add to its already cooling, refreshing, and depuffing properties.

Ingredients: Cold-press whole-leaf Aloe barbadensis leaf juice*, Daucus carota (carrot) seed essential oil*, tocopherol (vit. E from non-GMO sunflowers), Helichrysum italicum (Italian everlasting) oil*, natural ECOCERT preservative {glycerin, Leuconostoc (radish root) ferment filtrate, Lonicera japonica (honeysuckle) flower extract, Lonicera caprifolium (honeysuckle) extract, Populus tremuloides (quaking aspen) extract, gluconolactone}, natural ECOCERT emulsifier (glycerin, sucrose laurate, sucrose dilaurate, sucrose trilaurate, hydrogenated starch hydrolysate), Marticaria recutita (German blue chamomile) oil*, carbomer, ascorbic acid (vit. C), Mentha spicata (spearmint) oil*, Rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf extract. *Certified organic.

Nap in the Meadow Face Serum Earthwise Beauty

Nap in the Meadow Face Serum, $52 – The name of this one is so adorable and fitting. If you could imagine what a nap in the meadow actually smells like, it would be this. True dat. This is a lightweight aloe-based serum that is loaded with anti-oxidants and offers deep hydration, sun damage repair, and anti-inflammatory & anti-aging benefits. It has has a liquidy consistency (vs. oily) and it works for all skin types. Gah, this pic looks somewhat… eeks, don’t wanna say, but forgive! I really wanted you guys to see the texture.

Some key ingredients include: Turmeric CO2 supercritical extract (antioxidant and anti-inflammatory), yarrow oil (anti-inflammatory), German blue chamomile oil (decreases skin inflammation), helichrysum (revitalizes skin tissue), galbanum (wound-healing), and copaiba balsam resin (acne-healing).

I keep this in the fridge and use is day and night, post face wash and toner, and I like to follow it up with a bit of Resiliency Face Serum, Ruby Oil (below for more) and Tigress Face Balm (also see below). I like to OD on EWB, haha. It’s a luxe combo that leaves my skin feeling pampered, refreshed, and deeply nourished.

Earthwise Beauty Tigress Face BalmEarthwise Beauty Tigress Balm

Tigress Face Balm, $110 – I don’t have acne prone skin but when my hormones are in flux (aunt flo mojo style), holy hell do I break out. For the longest time I have struggled to find a spot treatment that doesn’t leave my skin parched af. This noncomedogenic (won’t clog pores) balm is LIFE. At a glance, it might seem intimidating because it looks as though it would be a greasy sitch, but it’s soft, melts instantly, absorbs effortlessly and is mega lightweight for a balm. You can use it all over of just focus on the spots you’d like to treat. This works beautifully layered on top of Nap in the Meadow Face Serum, btw. Also, you only need to use a teeny amount, as a little goes a long way. This jar should last you for quite awhile, which should give you peace of mind considering the price point.

This unique balm incorporates poweful ingredients such as ucuuba butter (renews collagen and promotes skin tissue regeneration), kokum butter (acts as an astringent), sapote oil (antimicrobial), babassu oil (an emollient), spikenard essential oil (tissue regenerator), and usnea lichen extract (loaded with antimicrobial benefits).

I can’t not talk about the scent with this one… it smells incredibly exotic. I almost wanna say it smells like India. Even if this balm had zero healing properties, I’d probably still wear it as a face perfume, haha. 😉

Earthwise Beauty Ferns and Moss Face Serum

Ferns and Moss Face Serum, $56 – If you have über dry skin, wrinks, or facial scars, you’re going to adore this serum. You only need a small amount, and just let your skin slurp up the deep infusion of moisture. I kind of slather it on like cray at night, though, because mama neeeeds all the skin-softening love, haha. I’ll be depending on this gem big time come winter.

Key ingredients include andiroba oil (antibacterial. removes puffiness, heals and prevents acne, increases levels of collagen), copaiba balsam (anti-inflammatory, anti-acne, antiviral), manquetti mongongo, (wrinkle reducing), and moringa (hydrating). It has a lovely earthy/woodsy scent and doesn’t leave you looking hella shiny.

Earthwise Beauty Ruby Face Oil

Ruby Face Oil, $54 – I typically stay away from facial oils during the daytime because they’re often too slick and cause my makeup to slide around. This serum, however, is lightweight and quick absorbing (doesn’t leave an oily residue) and perfect for daytime use.

It’s chock full of antioxidant-rich oils that have anti-aging and sun-protective qualities including raspberry, buriti, rosehip, primrose. It also contains milk thistle, guava, rosehip, cranberry to help fight against skin congestion, and turmeric CO2 extract and whole-plant celery CO2 to help reduce inflammation. That’s just a partial list of goodness. Your skin is definitely in for a treat.
