Nubian Heritage 24-Hour Deodorant Review

Nubian Heritage deodorant

Vegan deodorants have come a loooooong way over the years. Do you remember how back-back in the day, our only option was like, a hunk of salt? ← Haha, I still love crystal rock deodorants. 😉 Now, there are all sorts of sticks, pastes, creams, sprays, and every scent you can think of, and formulas for skin types including sensitive skin.

I recently got my paws on a few Nubian Heritage 24-hour deodorants and got excited because it isn’t every day that you come across deos that claim to offer 24-hour protection.

Before I dive into my review, I want to quickly profess my love for all-natural deos. Most conventional anti-stank sticks contain aluminum, harsh chemicals, artificial fragrances and preservatives that wind up seeping into your skin and into your bloodstream. Sure, they might smell good (debatable), but they’re hella evil, na mean?

Anyhoo, the new unisexy formula and scents from Nubian Heritage smell AMAZE, and they’re actually good for your skin. Heads up, these are not antiperspirants. There’s actually no such thing as an all-natural antiperspirants. Your body is designed to sweat—that’s how we release toxins from our bod. Wetness is ok, it’s the stanky beastness that’s the real concern, haha.

Rockstar Scents:

  • Patchouli & Buriti – This is my fave of the batch because it smells REDONK. I’ve never fancied myself as a patchouli gal, but this scent is one of the sexiest things I’ve EVAH smelled, like, holy hell! *swoon*
  • Coconut and Payapa – This is made with coconut oil, which is a natural cleanser and moisturizer that contains healthy fats which soften skin, and papaya is known for its skin rejuvenating properties. It definitely smells like tropical yumminess.
  • Indian hemp with Haitian Vetiver – This is made with skin nourishing and healing neem oil and hemp to refresh and moisturize delicate pits.
  • African Black Soap – This contains African black soap, made with palm ash, tamarind extract and plantain peel, which has been used in Africa to care for the skin. It also has organic shea butter in it to help soothe and nourish skin as well.

The range of scents is impressive, but again, Patchouli & Buriti has my heart. These sticks are easy to apply and glide on effortlessly. I love that the ingredients are all-natural and many of them are certified organic and non-GMO. I can’t fully attest to the 24-hr coverage, as I haven’t truly put it to the test (gah, haven’t been working out lately), but so far, so good. No complaints.

Quick note: if you have super sensitive pits, natural deodorants can sometimes cause rashes and other skin irritations (this happened while I was preggo with my second munchkin). If this happens, just discontinue use. There are alternatives if you’re looking for something hella mild. Shoot me an e-mail for recs. xx

These Nubian Heritage deos can be purchased on their website and through Vitamin Shoppe, and they retail for $8.99. Def check out this company if you haven’t already. They’re good people with an endearing back story, and their products are solid and affordable. They offer hundreds of culturally authentic natural products, inspired by global ancient healing traditions, that are free of sulfates, parabens, phthalates, paraffin, gluten, propylene glycol, DEA, silicones, mineral oil, petroleum, synthetic fragrance and artificial color, and nothing is ever tested on animals. I’m a huge, huge fan! xo

Samples were provided for review; however, opinions are my own.
