When it comes to meditating and allowing yourself to be alone with your thoughts, your first inclination might be to think, “Ain’t nobody got time fo’ that!”. That actually used to be me not that very long ago. Since having kids and experiencing the everyday stress of running my own business, mixed with being a pretty shallow breather, I figured that if I didn’t start taking a dive into mindfulness, self-care, and self-awareness, I was gonna crack… seriously, y’all, stress kills! So, I eased into meditating and did it at a comfortable and doable pace. And because health is wealth, and I love you guys, Imma share some tips that I use on a daily basis to keep my mind, body, and spirit in check. I know, this post isn’t about beauty per se, but you’re gonna feel beautiful once you start meditating, TRUST. xx

You only need 5-10 minutes to reap all the amazing blissful benefits of meditation. If you need a bit of help with centering your focus, I recommend using websites, CDs, phone apps, etc. for guided meditations (many of which are free) – they’re amaaaaze!

Benefits of Meditation

  • Increased energy
  • More focus
  • Emotional well-being
  • Better sleep
  • Better memory retention
  • Less anxiety and stress
  • Better mood
  • Lower blood pressure
  • Longevity

The amazing thing about meditation is that your body immediately feels the positive effects. Talk about instant reward!

Simple Ways to Make Meditation Easier

1. Set a timer

Find a comfortable place to sit, free of distraction (no kiddos, kitties, or chocolate nearby, lol). Set a timer for 5-10 minutes. Begin by closing your eyes and focusing on your breath. Take a deep breath in through your nose and hold it for 2 seconds and slowly release it through your mouth and hold it for 2 seconds. Repeat for 10 minutes. If you find your mind starting to wander, that’s okay. Just re-focus on your breath.

2. Try the 100 breaths technique.

Take 100 deep breaths and count each one of them while trying not to think about anything else. This might feel like a chore at first, but you’re gonna feel like a million bucks afterward.

3. Meditate as you drift into slumberland.

This is one of my fav ways to meditate (mostly because I’m lazy af). Lie down comfortably on your bed, close your eyes and don’t think about or do anything. Do focus on your breath, and acknowledge thoughts that may pop up in that busy monkey mind of yours, but let them effortlessly float away. If you happen to fall asleep, awesome!

4. Start small.

Everyone has time for 10 deep breaths. If you’re crunched for time or you’re in need of a meditation mid workday, maybe during a lunch break, or perhaps while sittin’ on the loo… jk/jk, you don’t wanna be taking the deepest of deep breaths in that bathroom, especially if you’re tending to some serious business, lol. Seriously though, sneak away and find a cozy and quiet spot, and take 10 big-ass breaths. You’ll get a second wind and feel revived!

You only need 5-10 minutes to reap all the amazing blissful benefits of meditation. If you need a bit of help with centering your focus, I recommend using websites, CDs, phone apps, etc. for guided meditations (many of which are free) – they’re amaaaaze! You could also combine meditation with CBD from somewhere like Gold Bee for even more help to relax and refocus your mind.

Bottom line: JUST BREATHE! The more you meditate the easier it becomes. Once you start small, say 10 minutes, you’ll realize that time has flown by and it’s easier to go even longer. You got this, boo. ♥

What’s your favorite way to meditate? xo
