Switching over to cruelty-free and vegan toothpaste is easy-peasy! The best part is that many of the vegan-friendly brands are also non-toxic, SLS & fluoride free to boot! Your mouth is that last place you want nasty chemicals and toxic ish, amiright? M’kay, let’s dive in! Btw, these are in no particular order.

10 Vegan & Cruelty-Free Toothpastes

  1. Jason Sea Fresh Toothpaste – It’s formulated with blue green algae, calcium, proteins, and antioxidants. It’s also SLS-free, fluoride-free, and it has a nice minty taste.
  2. Nature’s Gate Crème de Peppermint Toothpaste – This formula is vegan, non-GMO, carageenan-free, gluten-free, soy-free, fluoride-free, paraben-free, and sulfate-free. The main ingredients are baking soda, glycerin, water, aloe barbadensis leaf juice, and peppermint oil. It also has cranberry, pomegranate, white tea, and grapeseed extracts.
  3. Well Scent Dental Powder – Love this stuff but it’s $pensy ($42!). Dental powder takes some getting used to, but it’s chill once you get the hang of it. Rockstar ingredients in this formula include baking soda, MSM, bentonite clay, and peppermint oil.
  4. Kingfisher Baking Soda Toothpaste –  This is a U.K. based brand. Their formula is all-natural and fluoride-free with a nice, subtle flavor.
  5. Aromère – This toothpaste has an Ayurvedic formula and is loaded with herbs and other natural ingredients. It tastes good, too!
  6. Organix South Theraneem with Cinnamon Toothpaste – This is another Ayurvedic formula featuring neem, which naturally supports healthy gums. It also contains grapeseed, clove, cardamom, star anise, cinnamon, and licorice. Needless to say, it doesn’t have a traditional minty taste, but they offer a minty flavor as well.
  7. Dr. Bronner’s Toothpaste – I’m currently using this formula, and it’s no sudsy at all. It’s coconut oil based with other suuuper pure ingredients. If you’re not used to coconut oil based toothpaste, this one might take some getting used to.
  8. Zion Health – This is a clay-based formula with a very pleasant, natural minty flavor – it’s one of my faves.
  9. Desert Essence Whitening Plus – This is probably my ultimate favorite toothpaste from this list as it’s fluoride-free and SLS-free but it still suds and give your mouth an extra clean feeling. I love that it’s whitening, too!
  10. Hello – I’ve received samples of these in vegan subscription boxes and while they have super fun flavors (pink grapefruit, mojito mint) and sleek packaging, they do contain fluoride. I’m hoping they come out with a fluoride-free formula soon. *fingers crossed*

Most of these brands can be found online, at at health food stores, and places like Target and Walgreens.
