KORA Organics by Miranda Kerr Skincare Review

KORA Organics

I usually don’t pay too much attention when celebs come out with beauty lines (Note – I will however drop EVERYTHING if Ryan Gosling comes out with a face cream… ehh, that doesn’t quite sound right… MOVING ON), but KORA Organics, developed by Miranda Kerr, definitely piqued my interest. Why? Her entire line is all-natural, Certified Organic, cruelty-free, “vegan” (will address this later), and infused with good sh*t – antioxidant rich noni extract, essential fatty acids, herbal extracts, essential oils and vitamins A, C and E.

KORA Organics

I was sent her Hydrating Mask, Hydrating Day and Night Cream and Vitamin Enhanced Lip Balm to review, and here are my honest thoughts…

Hydrating Day & Night Cream, $65 – I’m used to day and night creams being two separate products (day cream being on the lighter side and night cream being much thicker). This has a thicker consistency like a night cream, so I’ve been using it pretty much exclusively at night. It feels really good on my skin (not too heavy, non-greasy, moisture-rich) and I love that it’s made with Rose, Natural Omega 6 Fatty Acids, Lavender, Noni Extract and Rose Hip, and Mandarin Oil. It has a lovely fresh and citrusy scent, too.

Hydrating Mask, $48 – I’ve been in the market for a hydrating face mask now that winter is just around the corner. My skin gets insanely dry this time of year, so I was excited to find out if this mask could actually deliver. I’ve been letting it sit on my face for about 10 minutes a couple times a week, and my skin really does feel hydrated, smooth and supple afterward. It’s a bit liquidy and you don’t need a whole lot to cover your entire face.

Vitamin Enhanced Lip Balm, $21 – I always read ingredient labels, even when a brand claims to be vegan. Glad I do, too, ’cause this lip balm contains beeswax! Ack!

Ingredients: Ricinus communis (Castor) Oil*, Cera alba (Beeswax)*, Simmondsia chinensis (Jojoba) Oil*, Cocos nucifera (Coconut) Oil*,Castor Isostearate Beeswax Succinate, Cetyl Palmitate, Sorbitan Palmitate, Sorbitan Olivate, d-alpha Tocopheryl Acetate(Soyabean derived Natural Vitamin E), Persea gratissima (Avocado) Oil*, Rosa eglentaria (Rose Hip) Oil*, Citrus aurantifolia (Lime) Oil*, Ascorbyl Palmitate (Vitamin C), Malpighia glabra (Acerola Cherry Powder)*, Maltodextrin*, Morinda, citrifolia (Noni Fruit)*, limonene**.

Not sure if this is an oversight or if the KORA crew have a misunderstanding of the term “vegan”. Either way, I’ll be passing this along to a friend or family member.

Pros: These products contain truly wholesome, plant-based, organic and effective ingredients. They have a lovely citrus scent, and the packaging is elegant and inviting.

Cons: This line is not entirely vegan as stated on their website, but it’s definitely vegan-friendly. This is an expensive skincare line. I don’t know if I could ever bring myself to spend $48 on a face mask… for that price, it should probably have gold flakes in it and make you feel skinny. I did like the products I tried and will definitely continue using them until they’re empty.

Samples were provided for consideration. Opinions are my own.
