Inkkas Handmade Eco-Friendly Shoes Review

November 17, 2015By 2 Comments

I love discovering new eco-friendly, sustainable and socially responsible shoe lines. The latest one to pop up on my radar is Inkkas.

Inkkas is a Brooklyn-based footwear brand that believes in quality, craftsmanship and authenticity. Their shoes are handmade by artisanal shoemakers around the world with premium locally sourced materials. They’re also active in the fight against deforestation and environmental degradation. Every pair of Inkkas sold results in a donation to Trees for the Future, the flagship organization in the fight against deforestation.

What struck me most about Inkkas is their colorful Guatemalan-style designs – they’re super bright and cheery, and I love that they offer quite a few vegan options. I received their 2016 Black Spectrum Low Tops ($67), and the very first day I wore these out, I was getting mad compliments on ’em left and right. They’re definitely eye-catching and unique (even Baby Dev is drawn to them ↓). This pair also goes really well with my pink hair! 😉

And now for the question that trumps everything – are they comfortable? Yassssssss! Honestly, I was a bit skeptical when I first took them out of the box. They looked as though they were going to be stiff, but after giving them a test run in my living room, there was no doubt in my mind that these bad boys were going to to treat my tootsies well – and they do.

Inkkas has launched a Kickstarter campaign to help fund their company’s operations and open a store front in Greenpoint (Brooklyn). If you’re looking to score a great deal on a pair of rad shoes and support a company with a unique vision for earth & people-friendly shoes, y’all should show them some love. xx
