Vegan-Friendly Beauty Brands in the UK

July 29, 2015By 0 Comments

Hi VBR readers! My name’s Kelly and I run The Vegan Taff, a blog all about vegan beauty and lifestyle. I was honoured when the amazing Sunny asked if I’d like to guest post for her, so here I am with my vegan-friendly beauty brands in the UK, all of which I have personal experience with and would recommend.

Vegan Makeup UK

Autograph from Marks and Spencer

Marks and Spencer is a fantastic place to go for cruelty-free make-up, their products carry the leaping bunny symbol so you can see at a glance that they put effort into letting you know their stance on animal testing. A lot of people don’t realise though that a lot of their beauty products are vegan. Unfortunately they don’t label very well, so it may take some research to find out which products are suitable, but all of the ones I’ve tried so far have been so fantastic that it’s totally worth the extra hassle. I love the Matte Velvet lipsticks and Foundations, all of which are vegan-friendly.

B. from Superdrug

B. is still a relatively new brand but is one that I’ve come to adore. Every single product in their range is suitable for vegans, whether that’s make-up or skin care. I love being able to buy whatever catches my eye without having to do lots of research to see if I can use something, teamed with their competitive prices this makes the brand a regular in my beauty routine. I honestly couldn’t recommend just a couple of products from B. because I’ve loved everything I’ve tried from them so far.

Barry M

Barry M is well known this side of the pond for their selection of affordable nail polishes, all of which are vegan, but a lot of people don’t realise that this cruelty-free brand also has a wide array of vegan make-up products too. They make everything from Dazzle Dusts (which are loose eyeshadow pigments) to lipsticks and contour kits. Everything you could possibly want on your face is available from Barry M, and the majority of it is suitable for vegans. Thankfully they make the task of finding out what it suitable very easy; A quick visit to their website will bring up all of their current products, click on the one you like the look of and, if it’s vegan, it’ll have a little green “vegan” sign under the ingredients. This is a brand I use a lot, and would particularly recommend their Gelly Hi-Shine Lip crayons and Lip Liners, they’re both fantastic.

GOSH

This is a brand that is still pretty new to me, but one that I’ve been exploring a lot recently. After receiving confirmation from the brand that they are cruelty-free, as well as giving me an extensive list of their vegan product, I was eager to get going and order some products. Everything I’ve tried from them so far I’ve been really impressed with, but the one product I cannot live without is their CC Cream. It’s the only foundation I use in the warmer months because it stays on better than anything else, looks really natural, is pale enough for me and has decent coverage for such a light base. I’d highly recommend checking them out in your local Superdrug.

Makeup Revolution

Another new-ish company, having only been around for just over a year, but they’ve made a giant impact on the beauty world in that short time. Known for their dupes of high-end brands at budget prices, many of their products are suitable for vegans, but you do have to check ingredients as it’s not labelled on the packaging. I would highly suggest you try at least one of their eye shadow palettes, they quality is one of the best I’ve ever tried and most of them are only £4! The one in the above picture is a vegan dupe for the coveted Lorac Pro 2, which has received wide praise from lovers of both budget and high end make-up.

Of course there are a ton more brands that sell amazing vegan make-up and skin care in the UK, and I’d love to tell you about them all, but I don’t think Sunny would appreciate me sending her a novel-length post to share with you. There are lots of resources available online with lists of vegan brands, so be sure to check those out if you have any doubt, cruelty-free bloggers do some great research so you don’t have to.

Be sure to follow my girl Kelly and The Vegan Taff on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram! She’s the ultimate UK-based vegan beauty guru. xoxo ~Sunny
