Vegan & Cruelty-Free Shaving Essentials for Women

vegan shave products for women

Icky, sad, depressing fact: many shaving products are tested on animals. Another whack reality is that a lot of shaving products contain animal ingredients. WOMPS.

Thirdly, a less depressing but still somewhat of a bummertude: we ladies are expected by society to weed wack our leg scruffies and arm pit fros.

DISCLAIMER: I’m all for flaunting my body fur (you can ask my hubby, this is not a rare occurance ;) ), but every once in a while I like to assist my body in keeping cool temps by layering down (gettin’ my shave on). Don’y worry y’all, I’m a feminist through and through, and this has nothing to do with whether I’m hairy or not on any given day.

Anyhoo, here are a handful of pretty awesome vegan and cruelty-free shave products! Feel free to add to the list in the comments section below.

Personna Mystique Razor, $5.99 – M’ kay, finally a somewhat heavy duty ladies razor that is vegan and cruelty-free. The patented system is is designed design to provide a super smooth, close and comfortable shave. It has a pivoting head with an anti-drag blades, and a Vitamin E and aloe lubricating strip that reduces irritation and moisturizes.

Preserve Razor, $8.50 – This is not my favorite vegan razor (too gentle, not as hardcore as Personna’s) but I feel it’s worth mentioning because it’s super eco. It’s made from recycled yogurt cups, it’s unisex, easy to grip, and is completely recyclable after use.

Kiss My Face Moisture Shave, $6.99 – The is a rich and silky shaving cream that makes shaving a breeze. It’s made with antiseptic goldenseal and peppermint to cool and stimulate, arnica, orange flower, sage, soapwaort, lemon grass, vitamins A & E, and emollients olive oil, coconut oil, and aloe vera for healing. It’s moisture-rich and is available in these four scents – Patchouli, Cool Mint, Key Lime and Unscented.

Marzena Hands Free Sensitive Hair Remover Lotion, $8.69 – This fast-working (we’re talkin’ 3 minutes!), hands-free formula from Marzena is simple to use and very effective. It has a unique roll-on formula for a very quick and clean treatment that’s ideal for delicate areas of the body like face, bikini, underarms, and legs. Best part is that it’s a no mess sitch – just wash off with water!

Earth Science Moisturizing Shave Cream, $7.99 – This non-aerosol crème provides a close, non-irritating shave without drying your skin. It’s a super gentle formula with azulene, comfrey, and aloe to moisturize and soothe.

Be sure to check out our list of cruelty-free shaving products for men, too!

  1. Personna is now owned by Energizer, which also owns Schick and other brands that do test on animals. Personna itself is cruelty-free, but if you’re looking to stay away from non-cruelty-free parent companies, I would suggest Preserve.

I’ve emailed Dollar Shave Club and Harry’s multiple times and both have vegan shaving creams and razors! The shaving creams are meh, but mainly because they are formulated for face shaving. I use the Harry’s razor and love it! I hated both Preserve and Personna and don’t get nicked nearly as much as I did now that I’ve switched to Harry’s. For shaving cream, I like the Kiss My Face one you mentioned and also like Dr. Bronner’s shave gel.

    wait. razors aren’t vegan?

    • Taylor says:

The lubricating strips often contain animal ingredients, like fats, and every mainstream brand is tested on animals.

    Hi Sunny!

I went to the Personna website and they said they are now both owned by Enregizer and Wilkinson-Sword, and I’m not sure if they are cruelty-free. I used to use Personna all the time when I could purchase them at WalMart, but I can’t seem to find them anywhere, even online. It’s so challenging to find vegan-friendly razors. I used to use a women’s 6-blade from CVS, but they stopped making it, so now I just use a men’s 5-blade razor from CVS. I wish the Preserve razors were better! Every time I use them they cut me so badly.

I also love the KMF Moisture Shaves. I recently spotted a new scent, Pomegranate Grapefruit, and it smells so good. I also like the EOS Pomegranate Raspberry shave cream.

Thanks for the info about the Marzena cream! I’ve been looking for a vegan Nair alternative for awhile now.
