People often ask me which brands at Sephora are vegan-friendly. There are actually quite a few (e.g. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics, Tarte Cosmetics, and Lavanila), but today I wanted to focus on Too Faced. Not only is Too Faced a 100% cruelty-free beauty line, but they also have a pretty extensive selection of vegan cosmetics (WOOT!). Even their makeup brushes are made with soft and gentle “teddy-bear hair.” How cute is that? 😉

Here is a complete list of Too Faced’s vegan-friendly products:

  • Amazing Face SPF 15 Powder Foundation (all)
  • Absolutely Flawless Concealer (all)
  • Beauty Balm (all)

According to the website the stearic acid and glycerin are plant deruved . yay for vegan lashes everywhere !!!

  2. Dahlia says:

Some of the Perfect Lips Pencils contain carmine (Perfect Pink is one of them), and according to the ingredients list on the box of the Perfect Eyes Eyeliners I have in front of me, not all of them are vegan either! The Perfect Espresso, Perfect Black Orchid and Perfect Navy Pencils all say they contain carmine. :(

I love Too Faced, but they’re awful at updating their vegan list. I know this is the current list on the website, but it’s incredibly outdated. A bunch of the products on it are no longer available and it doesn’t include newer vegan products (yes, Better Than Sex is vegan!). It’s best to look at individual product information which usually is marked as vegan on the product page. Also, look at ingredient lists; the new Bulletproof Eyeliners appear to be vegan (except the purple one) even though they aren’t labeled as such.

    • Sunny says:

Yes, it definitely advised to always read the labels. Are you sure the Better Than Sex mascara is vegan? It contains stearic acid and glycerin, which are more often than not animal-derived.

  4. DawnW says:

Wait, wait, wait! Are you saying their lipsticks aren’t vegan?! I wanted to try a couple of them! Come on,no fair. =/

  5. Tabitha says:

Awesome, thank you so much for posting this information Sunny! I love their Chocolate Soleil bronzer, even though I’m so white that I use it as an eyeshadow and eyebrow coloring haha. I’ve also been eyeing that Matte Eye Collection for a while and since it’s still pretty hard to find vegan eye pallets (larger than quads and in a brand other than ELF at least) I may have to break down and get one soon.

The only thing is that I thought, and PLEASE correct me if I’m wrong, that their “better than sex” mascara was also vegan. I just did a quick check again on their website and couldn’t find any obviously non-vegan ingredient in it, so what am I missing?

  6. DanielleinDC says:

They have an app that has this list, so if I’m ever in Sephora again, I can look at that to decide what to get. Hooray for smart phones!

  7. Aiyana says:

I just looked at the ingredients for the Full Bloom powder blush and it says it has carmine in it!
