It’s been over two months (ermahgerd!!) since I’ve kicked refined sugar to the curb. Sugar is muy delicioso, but it’s a drug, and it totes feeds cancer cells, causes premature aging (oh HELLS no), and can give you yeast infections (hells to the hells to the HELLS to the NO). Don’t get me wrong, I still get my fill of sweets, but I tend to opt for alternately sweetened (e.g. stevia, xylitol, unrefined coconut sugar, etc.) goodies and raw desserts. Some of my all-time faves include:
- Tofutti Hooray Crispy Crunch Bars - We’re talkin’ creamy vanilla ice cream dipped in dark chocolate with crispy crunchies! They’re vegan, delicious, palm oil-free, and stevia-sweetened. YUM!
- Homemade banana ice cream with Jem raw nut butters – Have y’all made banana ice cream before? You literally slice and freeze 3 bananas (for a few hours or overnight) and blend/top them with peanut butter, chocolate sauce, nuts, whatever your heart desires. Jem nut butters are INSANE! The chocolate hazelnut one tastes like vegan Nutella, and the Cinnamon Red Maca (my fave) tastes like heaven covered in magical sprinkles.
- Simply Lite Dark Chocolate with Almonds – I picked up a bunch of these at Trader Joe’s a few weeks ago, and man are they scrummy! They’re sweetened with maltitol, and the dark chocolate with almonds variety perfectly hits the spot when sugar cravings kick in.
- Lulu’s Raw Truffles and Chocolate Bars – The Love Truffles are my weakness… I can’t leave Whole Foods without swooping up a couple of these beauties! They’re smooth, decadent, and sinfully sweet (coconut palm sugar-style) with a touch of saltiness! Annnnnd, they’re heart-shaped which of course is endearing and makes me feel loved. ♥
