Whether you’re planning on rockin’ luscious mad curls, Farah Fawcett hair feathers, a retro beehive, or pin curls, (etc.), you’re gonna need HAIRSPRAY (and lots of it).

Ditch the nasty aerosol kind, and make this ish at home using only TWO (!!) ingredients from your kitchen.

What you’ll need:

  • 4 teaspoons vegan sugar (use more or less depending on the level of hold you want)
  • 1 cup filtered water
  • 4-6 drops of your favorite essential oil (optional)
  • Spray bottle

Heat your water in a saucepan to just under a boil, and dissolve your sugar in the hot water. Let cool and add your essential oils (I personally like lavender and citrusy scents for this). Pour your hairspray into your spray bottle, and voila! It really works!

Let me know how this works for you?

Sunny, this is like the gazillionth (??) product of yours that I have tried, fallen in love with, married and even done my ‘happy dance’ for (u know the kind, the one in your bedroom that resembles a break dancer who’s had one too many *vegan* coffees!?). You un-uglied my lips back in December when I found your sugar-scrub recipie and now you have provided my hair with the ability to stay smooth and slick, and stop looking like I’ve been electrocuted! Love u!,

how much hairspray does this make approximately?

I made the hairspray, and it works perfectly! It’s better than regular hairspray, because its not as sticky. I used about 5 drops of lavender oil, but I don’t smell it when I spray it. That’s fine with me, because I am accustomed to unscented products, anyway.

Does this keep well? I love DIY beauty products but sometimes they go bad so quick! Like the time I made toner haha

It’s always a good idea to refrigerate homemade beauty products for longer keep. 🙂

Yeah I wish I’d read the comments before trying this out – if it’s not refrigerated it will spoil. Just sprayed it all over my daughter’s head before school and had to emergency shower her off – it smelled like horrible horrible rot. Make sure to refrigerate!>_<
