Being 34 weeks pregsenstein, I most definitely have stretch mark prevention on the brain. So far, all is groovy in the prevention department. I have been slathering my belly, hips and other various lady lumps with all kinds of moisturizing blends: coconut oil, jojoba oil, shea butter, Vitamin E oil, and store-bought remedies.
While I like to go back and forth between brands, balms and oils, I figured I’d provide a simple DIY recipe that seems to incorporate a little bit of everything. Pregnancy aside, I know that stretch marks can also result from general weight gain and weight loss—so please, don’t view this of this as an exclusively bun-in-the-oven-type DIY project. And if you’re not prone to stretch marks at all (thank yo’ mama fo’ them delicious genes), use this recipe as a no-bullshit, nourishing after-bath moisturizer.
DIY Stretch Mark Prevention Blend
- 2 tablespoons coconut oil
- 1 tablespoon shea or cocoa butter (will need to be warmed/melted)
- 1 tablespoon Vitamin E oil
- 4 drops of lavender essential oil
- a jar
Mix all of these super fab ingredients together until blended well and place in a jar. Grab your sig other of BFF and have them rub you down.
Or… give yourself a gentle belly rub when the urge strikes you (I like to do this morning and night).
What’s your go-to stretch mark remedy or prevention routine?

Dude, I am so gonna have to make this up and try it. Can I replace/omit the lavender? I’m not a huge fan of lavender.
Yep, for sure! Vanilla would be nice too! …or you can do w/o any scent-y oils.
