Once upon a time, I was at an Animal Acres event in Acton, CA, chillin’ with the piggies and moo-moos, and when grub time rolled around, they had this funny, quirky energetic chef, who went by “The Sexy Vegan” (Brian Patton), demo and make us all an insanely delish spread. I remember thinkin’, “this guy needs a TV show or a cookbook”… and tada—I’ve now got his cookbook in hand!

First of all, I ♥ the title: The Sexy Vegan Cookbook: Extraordinary Food from an Ordinary Dude, $16.95.
Secondly, all of his recipes are down-to-earth, easy to make, and fun. He covers everything from cocktails (“the most important meal of the day”), meat substitutes, breakfast, soups, salads, sandwiches, pizzas, “snackage,” and there’s a whole section devoted entirely to ice cream. SOLD.
Recipes I’m itchin’ to try are his jalapeno poppers, The Fat Ass sandwich, and the Mostest Ultimate-est Breakfast Sandwich in the History of the Universe.
I also love his random “WTF” blurbs and tips throughout the book—I seriously learned a lot of interesting foodie facts!
I do wish this book had color photos of each dish. I’m a sucker for savory visuals, but other than that, this book is definitely one of my faves.
Bottom line: This book helps prove that veganism is hella delish, hearty, and fun.
I definitely recommend getting this book for your dude friends (and lady friends) who might be skeptical about our scrumptious deliumptious, meat-free food choices (and who love to chuckle while they cook).
What’s your favorite vegan cookbook?

My very first Vegan cookbook, given to me 4 years ago, is STILL my absolutely favorite, although I have collected a few more by now. The Dolce Vegan ( http://store.govegan.net/products/La-Dolce-Vegan-cookbook-%252d-autographed.html ) , by Sarah Kramer is awesome! She has creative and fun recipes that I just Love Love Love!!! You have to check it out if you haven’t.
Ooh, I’ll have to get my hands on a copy! Thanks so much for sharing.
Dreena Burton’s cookbooks have my heart, especially her newest, Let Them Eat Vegan. I also really like Isa’s Appetite for Reduction.
Who’s going to teach you how to make all these delicious Sexy Vegan dishes with us being so far apart now?
I’ll have to check those cookbooks out. Yeah, the distance between us is no bueno. MISS YOU! I think you need to start making YouTube cooking tutorials. ;D
