Urban Decay Vegan Palette

I’d like to start out by saying that I am, and forever have been, smitten as a kitten with Urban Decay… their products are cruelty-free, richly pigmented, shimmery, cutely packaged, and over half of their cosmetics line is vegan. Even though they have a slew of vegan products, this is the first time Urban Decay has come out with an exclusively vegan palette (featuring their best-selling vegan eye shadows and more). Are you as beyond mega hardcore excited as I am?

This vegan palette ($34), which is the perfect size for travel and comes with a nice sized mirror, includes the following:

Eyeshadows: Minx, Urb, Gunmetal, Twice Baked, Smog, Half-Baked (these shadows are shimmery and H-O-T and complement each other well); Travel-size 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil: Zero (my favorite eyeliner ever!); Eyeshadow Primer Potion: Sin.

The packaging is 100% adorbs, artsy-fartsy, retro-y with beautiful animal drawings, all printed with soy based inks on recycled materials.

Run, don’t walk, to Sephora, ULTA, Macy’s (or order online), and pick one of these vegan palette up today! The more we show support for vegan makeup lines, the more vegan options we’ll have to choose from! :)

It’s great that it’s cruelty free but does it contain alcohol? That’s my question.

they now have a disclaimer on their website:

Vegan friends, please note: We have recently discovered that, due to a manufacturing oversight by one of our suppliers, a non-vegan ingredient has been used in our Eyeshadow Primer Potion. We have removed the vegan paw print from the Vegan Palette (because it includes a sample of Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Sin). All of the Eyeshadows in the palette are still 100% vegan, but the attached sample is not. Please give it away to a non-vegan friend!

thought you might like to know. i certainly did.

  • [...] a vegan lifestyle (for your health, the animals and the planet); and c) I wanted to show off my Urban Decay Vegan Palette makeup at work (I used the top row of eyeshadows for this video). [...]

  • I have this! I just couldn’t resist it. I just made a video about it and I’ll be doing some looks from it on CFF soon.
There’s an event coming up in LA where they’re giving away 100 of them for free! You should go, Sunny! http://www.crueltyfreeface.com/?p=247

  • This looks like a great eye makeup set. I wonder if it uses the bare minerals techniques in manufacture or if it uses vegetable oil as a binder? I imagine that the eyeliner and the eye primer both have to use either hydrogenated vegetable oil or a soy solid of some kind. Still, I can really appreciate the fact that these even exist. A lot of people don’t know exactly how much damage the manufacture of makeup can do to the environment and to animals. After all, the demand for spermaceti for makeup was one of the major things driving the whaling industry for so long, leading to today’s near extinction of many whale species.

  • I love, love this! I already have 3 of the colors, the pencil, and the primer so I really shouldn’t buy it.. :( I so would get it just for that art if we were rollin’ in the dough, though. :D

  • Ooh this is a REALLY pretty and nice set! Definitely helps that Urban Decay is one of my absolute favorite brands<3
