Neuma: Quenching Your Thirsty Hair

June 21, 2010By 18 Comments

neumaSometime I feel like a broken record when I go on and on about how nasty and dry my hair is. My hair is in a constant state of crustitude and dude, it bums me out. It’s always a treat when I discover serious, no-bullshit, vegan brands of shampoo that actually make my hair feel deliciously soft and manageable (which is a tall order).

I was recently sent some samples of Neuma, a sulfate-free, sustainable, vegan line of haircare and I was excited to finally try some fancy, salon-quality shampoo and conditioner.  I fell in love with their “moisture” hair care line (for dry and damaged hair – like mine)!  It was concentrated, thick and nourishing and it smelled like lemon frosted cupcakes. My only complaint (which isn’t really legit) was that their samples were of sample size. Mama wanted more! ;)

Neuma is offered in spas and fine salons around the country.  (I know, I’m bummed we can’t buy these at Target, too). For a list of these locations, check their website for updates. Their website isn’t fully complete (although it’s very pretty and relaxing – with chirping birdies, even), so some of their menu selections are “coming soon.” I will keep you all posted if I hear any news.

Bottom line: Neuma is the shit! If you get the opportunity to try this hair care line (which is available in Moisture, Volume, Styling, Renew and Repair), you’ll be stoked – take my word on this.

I would like to see a list of the ingredients before buying but am unable to find the list on the internet. Can you help me? Thanks much. – Karen

If you click on the “beauty” tab on their website, they list all the toxic ingredients their products DON’T contain. I don’t have the packaging anymore, but you should reach out to the company so they can supply you with that info. Good luck!

I just tried the Hair Spray and I am not pleased. The medium control is a very heavy control & leaves my hair feeling like a helmet even with just a small spray. Also, the hair spray doesn’t wash out when I take a shower & the only way I can get it out of my hair is wash with shampoo which I dont like to do on a daily basis. I haven’t tried the other products but I’m return the hair spray – not happy with it.

Do you provide samples? I’m interested in trying the Argan Treatment and the Smoothing Cream. I have the moisture shampoo, conditioner, and mousse.
    Thank you.

Where can I get Neuma in Honolulu. I went on their website and the only salons are in California. I am in desperate need of a new shampoo and conditioner. Just started coloring my hair about a year ago to cover the grays and it is killing my once healthy hair. I am hoping Neuma is my savior!

Best shampoo I’ve ever used. I used to have to wash my hair every day, its so oily. I have the “orange” bottle, pathouli scent to die for.. I can go 3 days in between now. It is expensive but well, well worth it. This bottle will last me probably 6 months or more.. so in the long run very cost effective. Try it, you’ll be hooked!! I’ll never use anything else.

I’m looking for a volumizing shampoo and conditioner that will hold my color. My stylist did try the volumizing products after a color and I liked the results, but he is not carrying the products currently.

Please send a sample of the volumizing products.

I recently heard of your new Neuma hair care products. I have spent tuns of money of different shampoo & conditioner and nothing works for my oily scalp and dry ends. When I heard from a friend this product line is vegan, it caught my attention. I would like a sample or two to try if you don’t mind. Hoping you can help.

Is this brand available online at all?
I have an unbearably dry scalp and really unruly naturally curly hair (which means my hair is dry too). I would love love love to try some!

We would be stoked to let you try NEUMA for yourself and see. NEUMA has been formulated not only sulfate free, but also free of all harsh color stripping detergents, alcohols, and propylene glycol. Plus, we have infused NEUMA with essential oils and other UV Guard extracts to help keep your color beautiful longer. Forward me your email address and we will rush a sample out to you so you can experience NEUMA for yourself – we think you’ll become a fan too ;-) , just a thought…

Hello Tommy. I just bought the volumizing shampoo and the moisture conditioner. I have only use dit once so far and i’m excited to continue to use the prducts. My only concern is whether or not I should have gotten the volumizing condition instead of the moisture conditioner. I have fine to medium hair type. I do ave a oily scalp and I don’t like products that weigh my hair down, which is why I though the volume shampoo with the moisture conditioner would be a good combination. What are your thoughts on this?

Also, I love how the moisture conditioner smells but not the volume shampoo. The shampoo smells like soap…maybe its just me but it wont stop me from using the products :)
      Thank you!

Do you color your hair…? That will totally destroy it – even the “natural brands” are toxic and damaging. Just a thought…

    • krystal fischer says:

I completely disagree. Being a color speciallist of 12 years, I can assure you neuma haircare products will not only keep your hair at a healthy ph level of 4.5-5.5 it will also prolong your haircolor (that is, if your stylist understands and is using a color formula customized to your specific hhair needs. If you’re color is fading even with this haircare line, then its not the products that need 2 be changed, its your stylist
