There aren’t many vegan restaurants in LA that stay open late (boo), but there are a few and they’re all pretty frickin’ awesome. One of my faves is Pure Luck – they’re open until midnight Monday-Saturday (they are closed on Sundays). If you have a hankerin’ for some tasty-ass noms around beddies time, you should check this place out. Although I’m not überly horny about everything on their menu, nor do I drink (they have a nice selection of vegan beers), I am a gigantor fan of Todd’s BBQ Sandwich. In fact, it’s the only thing I ever order from there anymore ’cause the BBQ-y jackfruit is ridiculously tasty! It has a soft, meaty texture and it’s slathered in BBQ sauce – YUMZ! I usually order this with rosemary fries (they have sweet potato fries, too) and garlic aioli sauce to dip them in. *drool, drool, slobber, slobber*
I want to try to make this at home; it seems simple enough. Does anyone know how to cook jackfruit? Any jackfruit recipes in general are welcome.
