Silk Heart Health Soy Milk Giveaway!

October 14, 2009By 0 Comments

Vegans and lactose intolerant peeps have been enjoying soy milk for many decades. Why is soy milk the bomb? It’s überly delicious, it’s not loaded with hormones, fat or cholesterol and it’s way healthier for you in general. By drinking soy milk instead of cow’s milk (which is intended for fattening up baby cows) you decrease your chances of getting heart disease, cancer and osteoporosis. Also, it’ll help you keep that lean, sexy figure of yours.

One of my favorite soy milk companies is Silk. They are wind powered, they use non-GMO soybeans, their soy milk contains complete proteins and you can get it plain, vanilla or chocolate flavored. Silk’s new Heart Health Soy Milk combines the heart-health benefits of soy protein and plant sterols which have both been proven to reduce the risk of cholesterol and heart disease… and it’s super yummy! I personally love using vanilla Silk Heart Health on my breakfast cereal!

I’m going to be giving away 4 half gallons of Heart Health Soymilk to one of my lucky readers. All you have to do is leave a comment. Feel free to tell me how much you like soy milk or which flavor is your favorite (but your comment doesn’t have to be be soy milk related at all). A winner will be announced Oct. 21. Good luck!

If you’re new to soy milk, keep in mind you can use it any way you’d normally use “traditional” milk (i.e. in cereal, baked goods, milkshakes, straight out of the carton, etc.)

You can even use soy milk in facials! Yup! I had to tie vegan beauty in here somehow. 😉 I came up with my own beauty recipe.

Blend up 1/3 cup of oats (which are exfoliating and moisturizing) in a food processor, add one teaspoon of raw agave nectar (which is bacteria inhibiting) and add enough (~ a couple teaspoons) soy milk until it gets the consistency of a paste. Make it as thick or as watery as you like. Apply it on your face and leave it on for about 5-10 minutes and then rinse it off. Voilá! You just saved yourself a ton of money with a homemade facial.

After you’re done with your facial, try making this smoothie. I borrowed the recipe from Silk’s website:

Raspberry Mint Chocolate Silk Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups Raspberries, frozen
  • 2 cups Silk Original
  • 2 Tablespoons Almonds
  • 4 Tablespoons Maple syrup
  • 2 Tablespoons Chocolate chips

Blend all ingredients in a food processor and serve. Garnish with 4 mint leaves. (serves 4)
